In a society tightly bound by tradition, five daughters suffer under the authoritarian hand of their mother.

Bernarda Alba is an excessively proud woman; refusing to permit joy to penetrate the shroud of mourning she wears for her dead husband.

Stifled to the point of suffocation, her daughters long to embrace life and yield to their simmering passions.

Can they escape the tyranny of their mother and be free to discover love, or will they be forever condemned to a life of sterile duty?
